Text and image prompts drive video generation
Users have been creating millions of clips within the platform over the last year. In February, Google introduced Veo 3.1 to allow video generation. Now, Gemini Omni integrates into the workflow so creators can produce high-quality footage by describing their vision in plain English. Adding a photo or rough sketch as a reference point helps the system align the output with specific visual details.
Step-by-step editing via chat
Refining a first draft often requires multiple adjustments. The new tools allow users to request changes using everyday language, whether they are working with AI-generated clips or footage shot on a mobile phone. Commands can swap backgrounds, correct lighting issues, or apply specific effects. Because the system supports iterative edits, changes do not require starting the process from scratch.
Digital avatars for instant video updates
Users can create a digital avatar that mimics their appearance and voice by uploading a selfie and a short voice recording. Typing a message into the system allows the avatar to deliver the content without the user needing to record audio or appear on camera. This feature is currently restricted to users in specific regions who are 18 or older. Personal avatars link to a Google Account and are limited to the account holder’s likeness.
Availability and transparency
Gemini Omni and personal avatars are available to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, as well as Google Workspace business customers. Every generated clip includes an invisible SynthID digital watermark to verify that the content was created with AI.
What it means
Practitioners gain a workflow where editing feels like conversation rather than technical manipulation. The ability to generate a digital stand-in for personal messages removes the barrier of needing studio equipment or recording time. Transparency measures ensure recipients know when content is synthetic.
