U.S. investigated Chinese spy plot aimed at Nvidia CEO

A Singapore-based executive at Megaspeed, an artificial intelligence cloud provider previously accused of illegally reselling Nvidia chips to China, has been identified as a potential Chinese spy by anonymous sources. The individual, known as Alice Huang or Huang Le, was photographed alongside Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang at several business dinners in the region. U.S. intelligence agencies reportedly surveilled her for approximately one year to investigate her connections with China. Authorities feared that her proximity to the Nvidia leader allowed her to gather details on the company’s strategic plans and the CEO’s attempts to persuade the Trump Administration to permit the export of more advanced technology.

Nvidia has rejected these allegations, stating that the relationship between the CEO and the Megaspeed executive mirrors interactions with other regional clients. A company spokesperson confirmed that Jensen’s meetings with Ms Huang are standard business practice. The firm clarified that its regional customers receive only ordinary business information, with no access to sensitive trade secrets or data relevant to national security. This denial follows a 2025 investigation by the Commerce Department into Megaspeed for allegedly helping Chinese firms bypass AI chip export regulations.

  • The Commerce Department previously investigated Megaspeed for helping Chinese companies circumvent export controls.
  • Nvidia states that Ms Huang received only ordinary business information during her interactions.
  • U.S. intelligence agencies monitored Ms Huang for about a year to assess her ties to China.
