Chinese spies targeted Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, according to The New York Times

US intelligence agencies believe an executive within Jensen Huang’s circle is an informant for China. The New York Times reports that Alice Huang, who runs the Singapore-based data centre operator Megaspeed, passes information to Beijing while maintaining close ties to the Nvidia chief. President Trump was briefed about this situation a year ago but took no immediate action. Officials likely avoided disrupting Nvidia’s chip sales or further straining trade relations with China at that time. Jensen Huang was not warned during this period. US officials believed he was unaware of the situation.

The government suspects Megaspeed helped China access Nvidia chips through a Malaysian sister company. Between June 2024 and February 2026, this subsidiary purchased at least $4.8 billion worth of AI hardware containing Nvidia chips. An Nvidia spokesperson stated that meeting with customers is part of a CEO’s job and that Megaspeed does not receive sensitive information. Megaspeed has announced an internal investigation into the matter. A spokesperson for the Chinese embassy dismissed the allegations as groundless smears and slanders.

  • Megaspeed is based in Singapore
  • The suspected informant is Alice Huang
  • The investigation covers purchases from June 2024 to February 2026
