Microsoft hits 10 quarters of record-breaking revenue in a row

Microsoft reported quarterly revenue of $92.3 billion on Wednesday, marking the tenth consecutive quarter of growth and a nineteen percent increase compared to the same period last year. Net income rose to $36.6 billion, driven largely by the cloud business which generated $63.9 billion, a thirty percent jump from the previous year. The company has split its reporting into Agents and Infra alongside Devices and Consumer, though the latter segment saw a three percent decline as Windows OEM revenue fell by twenty-two percent.

While not all cloud usage stems from artificial intelligence, a significant portion does. Microsoft recorded $10 billion in revenue from OpenAI, which continues to operate many services on Azure despite expanding partnerships with other providers like AWS and Oracle. Future revenue commitments under existing contracts grew by seventy-three percent to $677 billion, indicating substantial demand for AI infrastructure. To meet these obligations, capital expenditures reached $45.2 billion, another record high for the quarter.
