Nvidia wants to pour up to $10 billion into Anthropic’s record-breaking IPO

Nvidia is currently negotiating a potential investment of up to $10 billion in Anthropic‘s initial public offering. This deal would see the graphics chip giant become an anchor investor as the company behind Claude aims to raise $100 billion and achieve a valuation near $2 trillion. Such a figure would establish it as the largest initial public offering in history. The two firms maintain a deep operational connection since Anthropic relies entirely on Nvidia GPUs for its infrastructure. In 2025, the company committed to purchasing $30 billion in Azure compute power packed with Nvidia chips. Revenue grew from approximately $9 billion at the end of 2025 to over $65 billion by July 2026. The IPO process is expected to conclude before the US midterms in November.

This transaction highlights how Nvidia functions as a central bank for the artificial intelligence sector. The company invests directly in customers like Anthropic and OpenAI while backing hundreds of billions in guarantees that assist data centres in securing financing. Most of this capital ultimately circulates back to Nvidia through chip orders. The arrangement ensures a steady demand for hardware regardless of how the public market reacts to the new stock listing.
