Gemini’s personalized AI image generation is now free for U.S. users

Google announced on Monday that the Gemini app now offers its personalized Nano Banana-powered image generation feature to all eligible users in the United States for free. This change removes the previous requirement for Plus, Pro, or Ultra subscriptions. The service allows the system to create images reflecting a user’s unique interests without needing specific details in the prompt. Gemini achieves this by processing data from connected Google accounts, including Gmail, Google Photos, YouTube, and Search. For instance, a request for an illustration of the user and their favourite things will automatically incorporate known preferences like coffee or baking. The system can also pull actual photographs of the user from Google Photos so manual uploads are unnecessary.

This expansion makes the Personal Intelligence feature, which launched earlier this year, available to a wider audience after recent rollouts in India and Japan. The feature remains opt-in, letting users decide which apps Gemini can access, though it defaults on for every prompt once enabled. A toggle in the Tools menu allows users to disable this functionality at any time. This move follows a series of updates last month, including a new Daily Brief feature, a revamped interface, and access to the Gemini Omni video model. Google’s chatbot recently surpassed 750 million monthly active users, reinforcing its position as a major player in the artificial intelligence market.
