Anthropic has secured a six-year agreement for ten billion dollars worth of computing capacity from Volta Infra Holdings. This provider, which did not exist six months ago, will deliver thirteen three megawatts of power from a facility in Tydal, Norway. The site uses hydropower to run Nvidia H200 chips built for the Rubin architecture. Bitdeer Technologies operates the infrastructure, and its shares rose fourteen percent following the news. Handover will occur in two phases before March 2027. Volta recently raised three hundred million dollars in venture capital from Andreessen Horowitz and Altimeter Capital. Nvidia and Michael Dell also invested, valuing the firm at two point four billion dollars. The company has established a five billion dollar financing pool to help customers pay for expensive hardware upfront.
This move highlights how Anthropic is scaling its infrastructure alongside other major tech firms. The firm already has deals with Google, Broadcom, Amazon, SpaceX, and AMD. Critics note that these tangled dependencies between chip suppliers and developers could amplify losses if AI demand falls short. Volta demonstrates this pattern clearly because Nvidia acts as both an investor and the supplier of the chips deployed.
