Pink Floyd fans can now buy a limited-edition cassette player bundled with an exclusive remastered copy of The Dark Side of the Moon. We Are Rewind has launched the WE-001 device, styled after the Sony Walkman, specifically for this collaboration.
The box set includes a fresh remaster of the album, optimised for cassette playback. This release continues the company’s series of artist-themed hardware drops.
Hardware details
The player retains the classic aesthetic but adds modern connectivity. Bluetooth 5.1 allows wireless listening, while a rechargeable battery provides up to 12 hours of use. A built-in headphone amplifier is tuned for cassette tapes, and a line-in port enables recording of mixtapes or voice notes with a compatible microphone.
Construction uses aluminium, with a 3.5mm headphone output included. An optional belt clip is sold separately to complete the retro look.
We Are Rewind states the unit offers an improved frequency response of 30Hz-14.5kHz (±3dB) for better audio fidelity.
Sales context
Cassette sales are growing. New cassette sales in the US rose by 17.5% year on year. UK sales increased by 53% after ten years of consistent growth.

Nick Mason, drummer for Pink Floyd, says he has “enormous affection for the cassette.” He noted it was a “major breakthrough” with the Sony Walkman and up-market recorders. He still keeps his Nakamichi recorder on the shelf and looks forward to testing it with the new tape.
