Baby Audio has released SubCulture, a plugin that increases bass volume while tracking the pitch of the original signal.
Development took eighteen months. The company previously introduced Grainferno earlier this year, a tool for granular synthesis.
The software augments monophonic audio by generating low-end material that remains in tune with the source. The goal is to add power without compromising musicality.
Three engines drive the core functionality:
Sub Layer creates a pitch-shifted sub-octave version of the input, dropping the signal up to two octaves.
Root Boost acts as a pitch-tracking equaliser, adding or cutting up to 18 dB at the fundamental frequency of the note.
Resonance uses a parallel filter network inspired by classic analogue designs to reinforce critical low frequencies.
Saturation and compression sections model analogue gear. These modules add punch, harmonics, and dynamics to the basslines.
While the tool targets producers enhancing bass, Baby Audio states it can augment any incoming audio signal for creative purposes.
The release includes 177 custom presets from Craig Bauer, Dakota G, and Eryck Bry. These files serve as starting points for users exploring the interface.
Price and availability
SubCulture is available now for $79. The standard price is $129. The plugin can be purchased at the Baby Audio website.
