Safari Audio expands its virtual synth collection with vintage Juno-style PolyRex

Safari Audio has released PolyRex, a new virtual synthesiser plugin designed to emulate the sound of the Roland Juno-106. It is the company’s third software synth, following the Cubby and Super Chunk.

The tool aims to replicate the warmth and texture of vintage polysynths without the intimidating interface often found on similar emulations. The development team stated their primary goal was to create an instrument that felt immediate, fun, and nostalgic.

How it works

Users can access modulation options, an arpeggiator, and a built-in catalogue of chorus, delay, and spring reverb effects directly within the plugin. These features are intended to make the creative process less daunting.

Sound generation includes vintage-inspired oscillators such as square and sub oscillators, alongside a noise generator and LFO pitch modulation. Movement is further controlled through glide, pitch, and LFO settings.

“With PolyRex, we wanted to capture the feeling that made us fall in love with vintage polysynths in the first place; it’s all about inspiring sounds, a simple workflow, and an instrument that invites you to keep playing,” says Safari Audio.

The plugin runs on all major digital audio workstations.

Price and availability

PolyRex is available from Plugin Boutique at a 50% discount, priced at £35. Full details are available on the Safari Audio website.
