Spotify Premium subscribers can now interact with a new chatbot interface called Talk to Spotify that allows them to request music, audiobooks, and podcasts through conversation. The feature is available on the mobile app’s Home and Now Playing screens and accepts both typed queries and voice commands via a microphone icon. Unlike previous recommendation engines, this tool accesses the user’s existing playlists and listening history to generate specific results. It functions as a direct command layer rather than a passive suggestion system, streamlining the discovery process for logged-in accounts.
This shift matters because it changes how users access content from a browsing model to a conversational one. The integration reduces the friction of searching for specific tracks or summarising long-form audio without leaving the app. It also sets a precedent for how streaming services might interface with artificial intelligence in future updates.
- Feature is currently limited to Premium tier users only
- Accesses personal playlists and listening history for context
- Accepts both text input and voice commands
