Tamber is an “ethically trained” AI tool to aid the creative process – and you can use arm gestures to control it

Designed by artists for artists, new creative suite Tamber is here to reinvent how we use AI in the studio. Powered by “sonic intelligence”, Tamber acts as a “creative nervous system” that adapts and responds based on user prompts and emotions.
Say you’re keen to capture the feeling of a sunrise, sand between your toes, or the taste of your favourite meal – Tamber can tap into those emotions and conjure up the perfect sound for your track. It’s not about generating fully AI-generated tracks; instead, it provides unique sounds based on user input.
The pool of available sounds is also ethically gathered. It includes samples from a bustling Istanbul bazaar, drinks being shaken on a Rio beach, and various cityscapes – nothing synthesised or borrowed. “Nothing synthetic,” Tamber promises. “Every sound carries the place it came from.”
Backed by $5 million in funding from Adobe Ventures and a network of artist-investors, the creative suite offers a transparent and intuitive way to use AI in the studio while respecting artists’ values. Founder Zoe Wrenn explains that Tamber was built because she saw other tools “stealing” from artists.
“Artists shouldn’t have to choose between their values and their careers,” Wrenn says. “There needs to be an alternative, one that’s built with artists in mind.”
For those interested, Wrenn used an early model of Tamber on her 2020 single The Mac desktop app is now available. Integration for Ableton and additional DAWS will follow later this year.
