Slack is launching collaborative vibe-coding channels

Slack is launching Code, a feature that creates dedicated channels for teams to collaborate with AI agents on software development tasks. This update allows users to tag specific coding agents, such as Anthropic‘s Claude or Cognition’s Devin, directly within their existing workspace conversations. When a developer initiates a request to build a feature or fix a bug, the system spins up a project-specific channel where multiple team members can contribute comments and code snippets simultaneously. The interface includes tabs for managing user inputs and displays previews of HTML output before any changes reach production.

This approach aims to reduce the friction of switching between separate code editors and chat applications during the development lifecycle. By keeping the conversation history and code artifacts in one place, the feature attempts to maintain context that often gets lost when developers jump between tools. It also introduces a comparison function that highlights changes made to the codebase.

* Agents operate within isolated channels to prevent noise in main team discussions
* HTML previews render directly inside the chat stream for immediate review
* Users can invite multiple colleagues to edit and review code in real time
