iZotope has left the Native Instruments family to join Boris FX.

This move ends iZotope’s time as part of the group acquired by InMusic in May 2026. The brand previously sat under the Native Instruments umbrella alongside Plugin Alliance and Brainworx.
How we got here
The situation involves a long chain of transactions. In 2021, iZotope and Native Instruments formed a partnership backed by Francisco Partners. By 2022, this entity became known as Soundwide after adding Brainworx, Plugin Alliance, and a shell company named Sound Stacks.
Soundwide faced trouble in January 2023, cutting 8 per cent of its global workforce. In June 2023, the group rebranded as Native Instruments. By January 2026, the parent company entered preliminary insolvency. InMusic bought the Native Instruments brand in May 2026, including iZotope, but the two brands are now separating.
What it means for users
Subscriptions and existing licenses remain fully active. Todd Baker, iZotope’s director of communications, confirmed there will be no interruption to support or development.
Users can buy new plugins or upgrade directly through the iZotope website. Purchases via Plugin Alliance are currently unavailable.
Development continues without pause. Baker noted that engineers working on RX, Ozone, Neutron, and Nectar are focused on the next generation of tools.
Boris FX describes itself as a founder-led company active in creative software for over 30 years. Its audio portfolio already includes Sequoia, Samplitude, and CrumplePop.
The merger emphasises artificial intelligence. Boris FX CEO Boris Yamnitsky stated that combining iZotope’s approach with Boris FX’s existing audio and video expertise will allow for faster innovation.
The latest release from iZotope is RX 12, reviewed in April 2026. No specific product from the new partnership has been announced yet.
Final thoughts
For now, the change is administrative. Your workflows and purchase methods will not alter immediately, though the company hopes the new structure will speed up future product development.
