Google has rebranded NotebookLM to Gemini Notebook and expanded its search application to allow third-party integrations. Vice President Josh Woodward confirmed that approximately 30 million people and 600,000 organisations currently use the tool. The update introduces a cloud computer feature for each notebook, enabling code execution and writing for AI Ultra and Workspace customers. Internal testing shows the new system beats the previous version 65 percent of the time, rising to 78.2 percent for advanced web research. Access will broaden over the coming weeks.
Separately, Google Search now permits direct app links within the AI Mode interface. Users in the US can connect services like Instacart, Canva, and YouTube Music to perform tasks without leaving the search results. This shift moves beyond simple information retrieval toward actionable execution.
