Football season has officially begun in the United States, and Google Search is adding new tools to assist with game day. The update introduces a Live Game Feed, expanded player and league statistics, and the option to connect a fantasy football account for specific advice.
Never miss a play with the Live Game Feed
The new Live Game Feed allows users to follow matches in real time. To access it, search for an ongoing game and look for the red “Live” icon. The interface displays a summary of the match so far, a timeline of play-by-play updates, leading social commentary, key video highlights, and AI-generated insights. This feature is currently available on mobile devices in the United States for English-language users. Support for collegiate teams is scheduled for later this month, followed by a global rollout.
Track matchups, standings, and statistics
New Search upgrades simplify the process of tracking the season. Searching for a specific matchup now displays a carousel showing scores for other games across the league, removing the need to perform individual searches.
Additional statistics are rolling out to show league leaders in categories such as passing touchdowns and rushing yards. Metrics including sacks, fumbles, and yards after catch are also included. Future updates will display championship favorites and playoff brackets. These changes, including the matchup carousel, will launch globally on mobile.
Manage your fantasy matchups with confidence
Users can link their Yahoo Fantasy or Sleeper account to Search to receive customised recommendations via AI Mode. This helps with decisions before kickoff.
When asking AI Mode for lineup assistance, an option appears to securely link the fantasy account. Once connected, Search uses data from the live roster and all leagues to provide start/sit recommendations and waiver wire targets. Manual data entry or screenshots are not required. Users can also request an assessment of draft picks or a weekly recap of league events.
This feature targets fantasy fans of all experience levels. Google plans to continue improvements throughout the season. Feedback is available through AI Mode using the thumbs up or thumbs down buttons on responses. The ability to connect fantasy football apps with Search is currently available in the United States for English-language users.
