Eric Schmidt is reported to hold roughly 1% of Anthropic following a 2021 Series A investment that valued the firm at $461 million. Bloomberg states this stake is about half the size of CEO Dario Amodei’s 2% holding. Schmidt invested tens of millions of dollars through Tomorrow Ventures, Innovation Endeavors Management, and his family office, Hillspire. The Silicon Valley venture capital firm has also backed Mistral, General Intuition, and Reflection AI since leaving Google in 2011. Anthropic is expected to list before the year ends with market estimates reaching $2 trillion. If that valuation proves correct, Schmidt’s share would be worth up to $20 billion. This would increase his current net worth of $57.5 billion significantly. The company did not immediately respond to requests for comment on these figures.
This investment highlights Schmidt’s continued focus on artificial intelligence as a primary asset class. His portfolio shows a clear preference for companies building foundational models rather than just applying them. The scale of his potential return depends entirely on how the public market values Anthropic’s technology stack.
