Daily AI usage in the U.S. has more than doubled in just six months

Data from two surveys conducted by Epoch AI and Ipsos shows the share of US adults using artificial intelligence almost every day rose from 8 percent to 19 percent between March and August 2026. The first poll asked participants about their overall usage frequency while the second inquiry required them to report on specific services separately. Researchers noted this methodological shift might mean the August figures underestimate the true level of adoption. Consequently, the proportion of people using AI only once a week dropped from 17 percent to 10 percent during the same period. Both samples were randomly selected and weighted to match the US population, yet the change in questioning style makes a direct comparison difficult. The rapid increase suggests a significant shift in how ordinary people interact with these tools, moving from occasional curiosity to regular integration. This trend indicates that artificial intelligence has moved beyond early experimentation into a standard part of daily routines for nearly one in five Americans. The data highlights a clear acceleration in adoption rates over a short timeframe without relying on speculative projections about future growth or market dominance.
