Anthropic is expanding Claude Cowork availability to mobile and web platforms starting Tuesday. The AI agent platform previously operated exclusively within the desktop application for macOS and Windows users. Access will initially roll out to Max subscribers before extending to other subscription tiers in the coming weeks. While mobile and web versions are now live, Anthropic notes that the full experience remains on the desktop app. This includes specific capabilities like local file access which are not available on the cloud-based mobile interface.
Cowork sessions will now run in the cloud by default to allow continuity across different devices. This change means users can pause a task on one device and resume it on another without losing context. The shift supports a more flexible workflow for professionals who need to switch between operating systems or locations frequently. However, the limitation regarding local file access on mobile devices means heavy data processing tasks may still require a computer.
