Twitch has enabled users to stop Amazon from using their channel material to train generative AI models. This option arrives more than two years after an executive admitted the practice was already happening. The updated support page clarifies that opting out prevents streams, videos, clips, chat logs, and channel images from entering future training sets for Amazon’s text, audio, image, and video synthesis tools. Streamers must visit the security settings section of their account to activate this privacy control.
The change matters because it shifts control from the platform to the individual creator regarding data usage. Previously, participation was implicit and unavoidable for anyone broadcasting on the service. Now, the default position requires active consent to continue training the underlying systems. This reversal addresses long-standing concerns about how user-generated content feeds into commercial artificial intelligence products without explicit permission.
