This ‘World of Warcraft: Forever’ Mod Blocks All Interactions With Asmongold Fans

The beta for World of Warcraft: Forever has been disrupted by fans of streamer Asmongold flooding public spaces with spam and slurs. A player named Solastro responded by creating OlympusMute, a mod that hides all interactions from accounts linked to Asmongold’s guilds.

A complete block

OlympusMute, named after the streamer’s main guild, acts as a client-side filter. It removes chat messages from any player whose name contains “Olympus”. The tool also automatically rejects group and guild invitations sent by these muted accounts.

According to the mod’s description, this approach effectively blocks every form of communication from the targeted players. This includes Say, Yell, Emote, Whisper, and General/Trade channels. It also silences Guild, Party, Raid, Raid Warning, and Instance chat. Their chat bubbles are hidden in the open world as well.

There is a clear reason for this strict separation. User @mrfishpsirit reported seeing Asmongold harass random players and spam toxic messages in Stormwind after watching just three minutes of his stream. The account shared screenshots of chat bubbles calling to “deport all greenskins” and sexually assault Palestine. Asmongold himself replied to the post with a list of slurs he had invented for the game’s fictional races.

The server problem

World of Warcraft: Forever changes how players are grouped. Most MMOs use servers, or realms, where influencers and streamers can pick a specific location to gather their followers. People who did not want to play with them could simply avoid that server.

Blizzard has replaced this system with rulesets that group players together. In this new architecture, massive personality-driven guilds are much harder to avoid because they are scattered across the entire game world based on those rules rather than geography.

Players have also reported that Asmongold’s followers spam guild invites to new accounts as they log in, attempting to absorb them into the mass. Their chat fills public spaces and trading channels with noise. OlympusMute offers a solution without booting Asmongold’s players from the server, simply keeping them out of a player’s face.

What it means

This mod highlights a shift in how large communities interact with the game. In the old system, avoiding a toxic streamer meant logging into a different realm. Now, the game’s structure forces everyone into the same spaces. Tools like OlympusMute allow individual players to reclaim their experience by filtering out specific groups, effectively opting out of the noise without leaving the game.
