Teenage Engineering has introduced the EP-136 K.O. Sidekick, a compact hardware unit that serves as both a mixer and effects processor, complemented by a built-in sequencer.
The EP-136 Sidekick, designed for use alongside the company’s K.O. II synthesizer, combines mixer functionality with a suite of performance tools typically found in DJ mixers or compact grooveboxes.
Each channel features dedicated faders and cue buttons to preview audio signals, which can then be processed through six onboard effects: filter, delay, loop, tape, tremolo, and siren. These effects are manipulated using a bi-directional modulation stick and pressure-sensitive force pad on the unit’s right-hand side.
The Sidekick includes a high-resolution color LCD for setting up routing, managing performance parameters, and monitoring multi-channel recording and playback through eight input channels and four output channels.
It also offers two 3.5mm stereo inputs per channel and an additional stereo aux input for third-party use. The device can connect multiple units to extend its channel count, and it runs on a pair of AAA batteries or via USB-C power.
