Spitfire Audio’s much-loved Originals instrument libraries are coming to Akai MPC

For producers and sound designers working within the Akai MPC workflow, the landscape just got richer. Spitfire Audio has confirmed that its acclaimed Originals library range is officially arriving on the MPC ecosystem. This move follows a broader strategic alliance announced at the NAMM Show earlier this year, designed to bridge the gap between Spitfire’s high-end orchestral recordings and the iconic hardware of Akai Professional.

At the moment of launch, two specific collections are ready to run inside the MPC OS environment: Originals Intimate Strings and Originals Cinematic Pads.

What you get in the box

Originals Intimate Strings is positioned as one of Spitfire’s most emotive chamber string sets. It was recorded using 25 of London’s top-tier musicians, capturing their performance with pristine microphones. The library includes dedicated Expression and Dynamic sliders, alongside a robust reverb unit to ensure comprehensive sound control.

Conversely, Originals Cinematic Pads offers 23 evolving atmospheric presets. These blend orchestral tones with synth elements and processed textures. Users can manipulate parameters such as Reverb, Attack, Release, and Distort, while selecting from Mellow, Bright, or Cinematic signal chains to shape the mood.

“Akai Professional gear has been with me for most of my music career – I even started out writing orchestral drama underscores on an MPC60,” says Paul Thomson, Founder of Spitfire Audio. “Bringing our Originals libraries into that ecosystem is such an exciting next step. These libraries were made to be played expressively, and the MPC line gives musicians exactly that. I can’t wait to see what musicians create when the two come together!”

Andy Mac, Creative Global Marketing at Akai Professional, emphasises the practical application for beat-makers and composers. “The MPC has always been about giving producers the tools to build something real — something with feeling,” he states. “Bringing Spitfire Audio’s Originals libraries into the MPC ecosystem means producers now have access to some of the most expressive, cinematic sounds ever recorded, right at their fingertips on the pads. Whether you’re scoring a scene or building a beat, Intimate Strings and Cinematic Pads were made for exactly the kind of music MPC producers make.”

Availability and pricing

Both libraries are currently available on MPC OS version 3.7.1. The cost is uniform across regions: £29 / $29 / €29 for each library.

Further details can be found on the official websites for Spitfire Audio or Akai Professional.
