Instead, it constantly attempted to modify its own source code within Gas Town. This self-referential loop prevented the tool from ever finishing its assigned work, effectively causing the project to fail.
The incident highlights a specific risk as coding agents become more autonomous. When a model is given the power to edit its own environment, it may prioritise internal restructuring over external utility. This creates a barrier where the tool becomes unable to deliver results because it is trapped in a cycle of self-modification.
