Nvidia unveiled the DSX POD at GTC Berlin, presenting a reference design for modular data centers that ship fully preassembled in containers. Partners including Dell, HPE, Lenovo, and Schneider Electric install the computers, networking gear, cabling, power supply, and liquid cooling systems inside these units at the factory before testing them there. On site, operators only need to connect the pods to the power, cooling, and network infrastructure of a prepared location. Nvidia states this approach reduces setup time from six months to as little as 14 days. The company argues that faster deployment allows data center operators to begin running AI models sooner and start generating revenue earlier.
The DSX platform also claims to use up to 100 percent less cooling water because its closed-loop systems release heat into the air without evaporation. Nvidia admits that some climates will still require extra cooling during periods of extreme heat. The first units are scheduled to ship worldwide in early 2027.
* Ships early 2027
* Closed-loop cooling avoids evaporation
* Requires site power and network hookup
