Meta has launched Spaces, a feature designed to let users organise ongoing tasks with their Muse agent.
These Spaces function as dedicated conversation threads for specific projects, appearing in the sidebar of the interface. Clicking a Space opens a focused session where the agent works toward a set goal. Meta describes these as custom experiences rather than simple breakout chats.
Users might create a Space to plan a holiday, track recipes for a family event, or manage a DIY project. The system allows multiple tabs to remain open so you can switch between different active tasks without losing context.
According to Meta, you describe an idea in the main chat and the agent builds the corresponding Space. This could result in a tracker, a planner, or a project board.
The feature integrates with third-party applications to keep information current. Connecting apps allows Spaces to update in the background, reflecting new concert dates, price changes, or savings progress without manual input.
Mark Zuckerberg shared his experience with the tool on X on Friday. He noted that he has created a BBQ game, an event tracker, and a home control dashboard. He stated: “Playing around with spaces in Muse lately — tell Muse what you need and it builds it. I’ve made a BBQ game, an event tracker, and a home control dashboard. Excited to see what you build.”
Muse agents have received a positive response since their release. During an earnings call in October, Zuckerberg reported 10 million users in the U.S. and Canada. This figure was recorded less than two months after the agents debuted.
Meta is currently expanding the user experience surrounding these agents. Spaces is the second new Muse feature announced in the last week. On Thursday, the company introduced Muse Voice, which enables video chat and verbal commands.
Meta faces competition from other AI agents with cartoonish personas, including OpenAI’s dots and SpaceXAI’s Grokbot.
What it means
Users now have a structured way to manage long-term projects with their agent. Instead of a single, unbounded conversation, you can assign specific goals to a Space and return to it later. The integration with external apps means the agent can pull live data, keeping your plans accurate without constant prompting.
