Meta has expanded its Muse AI agent by adding real-time video chat capabilities with customisable avatars, assigning dedicated email addresses, and enabling direct control of Mac applications. During the Meta Connect 2026 event, Mark Zuckerberg also introduced the Muse Charm, a handheld device resembling a Tamagotchi that features a two-inch display, 5G connectivity, and a proprietary operating system. CTO Andrew Bosworth described the Charm as an exploratory project rather than the central pillar of Meta’s hardware strategy, noting it is expected to ship by December. The company simultaneously announced updated Ray-Ban Meta Audio Glasses which remove the camera and start at 349 euros, alongside a third-generation version priced from 449 euros. VR headsets are scheduled for release in spring 2027 at a cost of 1,299 dollars. Meta plans to implement a Private Processing system on these glasses to shield user data from internal access, though no timeline was provided for this feature.
The shift towards giving AI agents specific digital identities and hardware interfaces changes how users interact with software by moving beyond text-based commands to tangible actions like scheduling meetings or managing shopping lists.
