This procurement follows a recent contract for 6,000 pairs of electric shock gloves valued at 16.7 million dollars, highlighting a continued trend of significant technology spending by the agency.
The SPOT units feature cameras for 360 degree views and extendable arms that can open doors or pick up objects. While police departments in cities like Los Angeles have deployed similar units to remove hazardous items, the New York Police Department cancelled its contract after public backlash.
