Google’s AI note-taking app transcribes your meetings completely offline

Google has released an experimental note-taking application capable of transcribing meetings and audio files entirely offline. The tool, named Google AI Edge Foresight, operates on macOS using the company’s on-device EmbeddingGemma 2 model. It is free to use and functions without requiring an internet connection. Similar to existing tools like Granola and Wispr Flow, the app summarises meetings while allowing users to add their own annotations. Google states that users can input shorthand bullet points during sessions, which the software then converts into polished notes based on the transcript data. This capability addresses privacy concerns common with cloud-based transcription services, as all processing occurs locally on the user’s hardware. The release marks another step in Google’s broader strategy to shift AI capabilities away from server dependency.

  • Runs exclusively on macOS devices
  • Processes audio locally without cloud upload
  • Converts user shorthand into structured notes
