Anthropic has introduced a new function to Claude Cowork that allows users to record custom skills via screen capture and voice narration within the desktop application. A user initiates a task while the system records the visual steps and listens to the accompanying audio explanation. The software then processes this data to create a reusable skill stored in the workspace. When the same task recurs, the saved skill executes automatically without requiring manual repetition of every individual step. Accessible through the plus menu on Pro, Max, and Team plans, this feature sits alongside similar tools offered by OpenAI in its Codex product.
The primary benefit lies in reducing repetitive effort for routine workflows that require specific sequences. By converting a one-time demonstration into a permanent asset, teams can save time on recurring administrative or technical procedures. This approach treats the AI as a trainable partner rather than a static tool that only responds to text prompts.
* Available exclusively on Pro, Max, and Team subscriptions
* Requires both visual screen capture and spoken narration
* Stores workflows for immediate future reuse
