Moonshot AI is negotiating with Microsoft, Amazon and Google to host its Kimi K3 model on their Azure, AWS and Google Cloud platforms. The Chinese startup seeks up to 30 per cent of the revenue generated from services using the model. This arrangement would mark the first time a Chinese artificial intelligence firm has secured a similar revenue-sharing agreement with a major US cloud provider. Reuters reports that three sources familiar with the discussions confirmed the talks are at an early stage and a final deal remains uncertain.
The negotiations face significant hurdles regarding data access, token usage tracking and the proposed revenue split. Tensions are high because US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent threatened Moonshot with a trade ban, while authorities accuse the company of stealing Anthropic‘s Fable model. Moonshot denies these allegations and the three tech giants have declined to comment. The outcome will depend on resolving these legal and technical concerns before any agreement is signed.
