Blacksmith hits unicorn valuation after Sequoia leads Series C

Blacksmith, a platform assisting companies in building and testing software including AI-generated code, announced a $66 million Series C funding round led by Sequoia on Wednesday. This investment values the company at $1 billion. Co-founder and CEO Aditya Jayaprakash stated the firm was founded to make continuous integration less painful. He noted that most companies struggle to keep up with the volume of checks required when so much code is written by AI. Jayaprakash added that as agents write more of the world’s software, the question that matters is whether it can be trusted. The company reported its annual recurring revenue has grown 17x and it has run over 90 million CI jobs. Customers include Mercury and Granola. This Series C comes just two months after a $45 million Series B which valued the company at $550 million. A year ago Blacksmith was valued at $60 million after raising a $10 million Series A. It has raised $125 million to date.

The valuation jump reflects investor confidence in tools designed to manage the scale of automated software development. Continuous integration ensures code changes are validated before merging, a critical step when AI agents generate large volumes of new lines daily. Without reliable verification, teams risk introducing errors that automated systems might not catch themselves. The rapid growth in recurring revenue suggests a strong market need for infrastructure that maintains stability amidst accelerated development cycles. Companies relying on AI for coding require checks that can operate at scale without human intervention for every single line.

  • Revenue grew 17x since the last funding round
  • Over 90 million automated code checks executed
  • Sequoia led the round after an earlier $45 million investment
