Anthropic has rebuilt the Projects feature in Claude Code to allow users to describe a single goal while a coordinator splits the work across parallel threads. Each thread operates as its own cloud session and can open pull requests or run tests independently. Progress remains trackable in the main chat or per thread, including on mobile devices. The system builds shared memory across threads over time while a library collects all uploaded files and results.
This update represents another step toward code automation following the recent switch to autopilot mode as the default setting. Anthropic claims the new mode outperformed human developers on safety tasks, yet the shift also alters token economics. More autonomous agents likely mean more burned tokens, and control over how many tokens get burned shifts from users to the company selling them. This dynamic resembles letting gas companies control the throttle in your car rather than the driver managing fuel consumption directly.
