Shared Claude chats were reportedly showing up in search engines

Users discovered these private discussions by searching site:claude.ai/share, finding entries that ranged from legal queries to crypto keys. This oversight mirrors a similar error OpenAI made last year before removing the feature entirely. While Anthropic acted quickly and the Google results vanished shortly after, the chats remained visible on Bing and Brave Search for a longer period. The incident highlights how easily private data can leak when technical safeguards are overlooked during feature deployment. Users now manage their shared history through the Settings menu under Privacy and Shared Chats.
