UJAM has released Retrocraft, a new multi-effect plugin that consolidates vintage audio processing into a single interface. The tool combines amp colouration, tape emulation, vinyl saturation, speaker modelling, modulation, and ambience to alter the texture of piano chords, vocal loops, or drum beats. It offers six specific modules including LoFi, Modulation, Instability, Delay, Reverb, and Chop, alongside 100 production-ready presets for instruments and vocals. A built-in Surprise function generates random effect combinations to assist users in creating initial ideas. According to co-founder Peter Gorges, the design addresses the need for an integrated solution rather than requiring separate effects chains. The software is available for macOS and Windows in VST2, VST3, AU2, and AAX formats. Pricing is currently set at $49, dropping to $39 for existing UJAM users until 2 August, before rising to a standard retail price of $99.
This approach reduces the time required to build complex signal paths while providing immediate access to specific sonic degradations. The plugin allows independent adjustment of each processing stage, enabling users to shift between subtle warmth and heavy degradation without managing multiple windows. It targets producers seeking consistent lo-fi textures or experimental sound design elements within their workflow.
