The social media company appointed Chirantan Desai, the chief executive of MongoDB, to lead this effort. This business move builds directly on the recent introduction of Muse, Meta’s personal AI assistant capable of sending emails and booking travel. The platform will consolidate the full technology stack, including Muse, Meta Business Agent, and Muse Code, to serve businesses and developers. Desai stated that the initiative aims to turn these internal AI models into deployable products for external companies. The departure of the database leader caused MongoDB shares to fall by more than 17 per cent. The company appointed Dev Ittycheria as interim chief executive while the board searches for a permanent replacement.
The shift represents a strategic pivot for Meta to monetise its heavy investment in generative models through direct enterprise contracts. By moving beyond consumer applications, the firm targets revenue streams from organisations seeking to integrate advanced agents into their operations.
