Google’s more personalized Gemini AI is heading to your car

Google is rolling out Personal Intelligence for Gemini within Android Auto and vehicles with Google built-in. This update allows the assistant to access data from Gmail, Calendar, Maps, Photos, YouTube, and Search to tailor responses to individual users. For instance, drivers can query Gemini for flight status details pulled directly from a confirmation email in Gmail while navigating to an airport. The feature also enables commands like requesting directions to a doctor’s appointment or locating a car wash based on a saved photograph, removing the need for manual input.

The practical value lies in reducing driver distraction by consolidating fragmented information into single, context-aware queries. Instead of switching between apps to check schedules or view images, the system synthesises these elements into a direct answer. This integration supports safer driving habits by minimising the time spent interacting with the infotainment screen.
* Access spans Gmail, Calendar, Maps, Photos, YouTube, and Search.
* Commands include checking flight status and finding locations from images.
* The update targets Android Auto and cars with Google built-in.
