Google Cloud now offers OpenAI models alongside Gemini and Claude, becoming the only major provider with all three

Google Cloud has become the only major cloud provider to offer Gemini, Claude, and OpenAI models on a single platform. Three specific OpenAI options are available starting today for enterprise customers: GPT-6 Astra for demanding work like coding, GPT-6.1 Sol as a cheaper alternative, and GPT-6 Luna as a fast, cost-efficient choice for everyday tasks. These models launch as a private preview with sign-ups currently open. All charges run through a single Google Cloud bill and count toward existing contracts. Google states that customer data will not be used for training the models. The new models also appear in Gemini for Business and Google Antigravity.

This integration highlights a recurring tension within Google regarding its own compute resources. Spending significant capacity to serve cloud customers strengthens the biggest rivals of its own Gemini team. This resource conflict reportedly pushed researcher Noam Shazeer back to OpenAI. The move allows companies to compare models directly without switching contracts or billing systems.
