UVI has released Synth Anthology 5, a software package containing 300 hardware synthesizers.
The update adds 100 new instruments to the previous collection, bringing the total count to 300. The company claims this represents the most complete edition of the library to date, covering every era and method of synthesis.
Each sound originates from a physical machine. The team sourced, serviced, and recorded the hardware through high-end signal chains before programming the results.
The interface offers access to over 1,000 sound layers, 16,000 samples, and 300 presets. Controls include analogue drift, a hardware-modelled ladder filter, and the VCF4023 filter. The software also features a polyphonic sequencer and a per-step note repeat function.
Dual-layer architecture
The core update is a dual-layer system. Users can combine any two of the 300 synths into a single hybrid voice with fully modulatable blending. A proximity explorer tool analyses loaded sounds and suggests eight related voices for auditioning or remixing.
Casio Legacy
Separately, UVI released Vintage Casio Legacy earlier this year. This suite includes six classic Casio machines and carries Casio approval. The original hardware was recorded in multiple sessions to capture tonal variations, voicing, and signal path colour.
These original synths were often sold at premium prices, making the digital versions an affordable alternative.
What it means
Producers now have immediate access to a massive selection of analogue sounds without purchasing physical gear. The dual-layer feature allows for complex hybrid patches in a single voice, while the proximity tool helps discover new sounds based on existing presets.
UVI will sell Synth Anthology 5 for $89 / 89€ until 20 July. The regular price is $149 / 149€. Existing owners of Synth Anthology 4 can upgrade for $49 / 49€ until the same date.
