xAI’s Grokipedia has not received a single edit since 24 April, according to a report from Lawfare. The project launched in October 2025 with 885,000 articles and claims to have reached over 6 million entries by November. Despite the high volume of content, the live tracking page shows no recent changes. Elon Musk originally promised the AI-generated encyclopedia would be a massive improvement over Wikipedia. The silence on updates suggests the automated review system may be stalled or non-functional.
This lack of activity highlights the difficulty of scaling AI curation without human oversight. A static database cannot compete with the dynamic nature of traditional wikis where thousands of volunteers contribute daily. The project risks becoming obsolete if it cannot maintain current information.
