Nothing I say will diminish the value of these programs; I love "AI"! I use them all the time! I think they should have existed for much longer!
Yes, these programs are spectacular! But… Chatbots are not intelligent! They are nothing more than probabilistic calculators trained solely to play dominoes with sequences of characters (tokens) whose meaning they don’t even have the capacity to understand. These "AIs" don’t know what they’re "saying," they don’t know they’re communicating, they don’t know humans exist, they know absolutely nothing; they only know how to base their calculations on billions of texts to determine the next letter (tokens) in a possible valid answer. And despite being very well-trained, chatbot calculations **frequently lead to sequences of words that are errors/untruths/misinformation/inventions/hallucinations/etc**, and according to the developers themselves, **EVERYTHING** the chatbot says or create must be externally checked. And these errors/untruths/misinformation/inventions/hallucinations/etc occur in feedback layers that are inaccessible. And impossible to avoid or correct. These AI models are doomed to perpetual stagnation. If they want to reach singularity, they will have to start from scratch. Because these models based on 1001100100 will never reach singularity! Perhaps when there is hardware that modifies itself along with the software, just like brains do, but for now, no! We have only algorithms that have only one function: To play dominoes with tokens. AIs don’t exist; don’t believe the excited CEOs who make misleading claims. Read the terms of use. And continue using them, but now knowing that it is not intelligent entities that will reach singularity!
