Cursor announces its own AI model, a new Git platform, and a mobile app

Cursor has confirmed its first fully self-trained artificial intelligence model is being developed from scratch and will ship within weeks. Anysphere, the parent company acquired by SpaceX, stated the new system uses ten to twenty times more compute than earlier versions and matches the scale of Opus and GPT. Unlike previous iterations that relied on open-source bases, this model is trained independently to function beyond coding tasks. The startup also introduced Origin, a new Git platform designed for both human developers and autonomous agents. Built on a novel cloud architecture, Origin resolves merge conflicts and fixes failed CI tests during simultaneous access by thousands of simulated agents. Cursor Mobile is launching as an iOS beta to allow users to manage remote agents and review generated screenshots.

These moves signal a shift toward deeper integration between development tools and proprietary AI capabilities. Origin addresses the growing complexity of managing repositories when multiple agents operate simultaneously. The mobile app extends control over local and remote workflows without requiring a desktop interface.

  • Training runs independently of open-source foundations
  • Origin handles thousands of concurrent agent operations
  • iOS beta enables remote agent management
