Anthropic has integrated a dedicated browser directly into the Claude Cowork desktop application. When the model encounters a task requiring a website, it launches this private window in a side panel to load pages, read content, and interact with forms or dashboards that lack official APIs.
This feature allows the system to perform actions on specific portals without accessing the user’s existing browser data. The internal browser remains isolated from personal tabs, bookmarks, and stored passwords to maintain security boundaries. Users can transfer specific logins from Chrome, Edge, or Firefox one page at a time, though banking and email sites remain restricted. Anthropic advises caution regarding prompt injection risks and recommends sticking to trusted websites. The update is rolling out this week for Pro, Max, and Team plans, alongside Enterprise customers.
