OpenAI announced on Wednesday that it is bringing voice-based agentic features to the ChatGPT mobile app, allowing users to trigger workflows like drafting documents or summarising emails. Plus and Pro subscribers can access the Work tab to build sites, create presentations, use the cloud browser, and access finances, while free and Go users gain access to plugins and connected apps. Voice conversations will now generate richer text output, and users can switch between text and voice input easily. They can also start a conversation on the go and resume it on desktop. The feature arrives as an increasing number of users turn to voice to issue commands to AI assistants for complex tasks. This rollout follows the July launch of GPT-Live, which integrated voice capabilities into the desktop app for the Work and Codex tabs. Unlike Anthropic, which recently merged its Cowork and Chat interface, OpenAI keeps chat and workspaces separate.
