Anthropic has signed a $35 billion agreement with Lambda for cloud computing infrastructure. Reuters reports the deal relies on an anonymous source and specifies a new data centre in Nueces County, Texas. Hut 8, a former cryptocurrency mining firm, is developing the facility which will hold roughly 350 megawatts of power. Nvidia holds the lease for the site according to The Wall Street Journal.
This investment supports Anthropic’s planned initial public offering and addresses surging demand for its Claude model and Claude Code tool. The company recently secured a separate $45 billion contract with Nscale for a West Virginia location. These moves ensure sufficient capacity to handle increased usage without service interruptions.
* Hut 8 announced a 15-year lease with an unnamed client in July.
* Neither Anthropic nor Lambda commented on the Reuters report.
* Nvidia retains the lease for the Texas facility.
